This guide is for families with kids looking for new and exciting things to do and see in Vancouver. There are many inexpensive places to see, many tourist attractions that are designed with kids in mind, and day trips that the whole family will enjoy.

Inexpensive places and ideas for things to do with kids in Vancouver.

Local Park: Every neighborhood in Vancouver has a neighborhood park. Plan something as simple as going to the park, playing and having a picnic. This is a great and inexpensive way for families looking for things to do outdoors.

Skytrain: Ride the above ground Skytrain to some location that would interest your kids, the adventure begins from the minute you board the skytrain, then get to your destination explore have fun and back home again on the skytrain.

Library: The library can be fun for families and kids, it will be as fun as you make it, take the time to visit your local library and check out some interesting books, movies and music.

Vancouver Tourist Attractions for families and kids in Vancouver

Vancouver Aquarium: The Aquarium is fun for the whole family, all will enjoy the fun shows and all the marine animals.

Stanley Park:Stanley Park is a beautiful tourist attraction and park, visitors, families and kids love to got to Stanley Park and explore and walk around the sea wall.

Vancouver Science World:Science World Great place for kids in Vancouver to have fun, an exciting place for kids of all ages to learn explore and spend the day at Science World.

H.R. MacMillan Space Centre: H.R. MacMillan Space Centreis a fun place to explore space and is a top place for kids to explore and learn. Kids will love the many hands on exhibits and shows about our solar system and space.

Malkin Bowl: In Stanley park in the summer you can see live theater at this venue it is a wonderful way to spend the evening with your kids in Vancouver.

Tsawwassen: Boundary Bay beach is located 20 minutes from Vancouver in Sunny Tsawwassen. The tide goes out for miles this gives kids plenty of space to run around and explore the many tide pools with fish and sea creatures to see. There is also a nice playground.

Water Park: Looking to cool off, travel to Sunny Tsawwassen to a water park called Splashdown, kids love this water park with its many waterslide like “The Black Hole”.

Steveston: Steveston is located in Richmond, and is only minutes from Vancouver. See this old fishing village as the past meets the present, the Steveston Cannery and Heritage Museum. Garry Point is a great place to explore the Fraser River and walk around this beautiful park. This is one of the best places to fly a kite, many people bring small and very large kites.

Burnaby Village Museum: The Burnaby Village Museum will transport you back to the 1920’s, staff dress up in period costumes to greet visitors and give demonstrations in the businesses, shops and homes. See a live demonstration of the life of a blacksmith as he forges metal. Kids will love exploring the many old style places and ways that people lived and looked in the past. Kids of all ages love to ride the 1912 CW PARKER Carousel. There are many old style foods and treats to discover and rediscover for parents at the ice cream parlor.

Playland and P.N.E: The P.N.E. is one of the most popular things for kids in Vancouver in the Summer to do. Playland amusment park in Vancouver, opens in April, everyone loves the rides, games and the fun of Playland. The P.N.E. opens in August and hosts many events, acts and shows. Our favorite is the show called “The Super Dogs” this and all shows are included in your admission price to the P.N.E.

Granville Island: Granville Island has a kids park and a Kids Market, the kids market has many adventure games and activities that will keep your kids busy and happy.

Day trips for families with kids in Vancouver

Vancouver Zoo: The Vancouver Zoo located in Abbotsford, only 30 minutes from Vancouver. This is a nice trip for the whole family to see all its exciting animals.

Cultus Lake: Cultus is a beautiful lake only 1 ½ hours from Vancouver. The Cultus lake water slides are the best in BC and kids of all ages will enjoy the day.

Harrison Hot Springs: Only 90 minutes from Vancouver is Harrison Hot Springs, they have many nature trails, a beautiful beach and hot springs to enjoy.
